2. Pitties! | 12 Dogs of Christmas

Ok, it’s day two and I’m already cheating.  Can you blame me?  There’s no way I can fit all these awesome Ruff Start Rescue dogs into twelve days without grouping similar pups together.  I’d also like to mention that I am NOT suggesting giving pets as Christmas presents – adopting a pet is a serious, life-long commitment.  If you’re considering adding a pet to your family, check out this checklist for things to consider.

I really, truly, sincerely want to thank everyone for joining together to get the word out – I am blown away with how yesterday’s Dog of Christmas, Leila the Puggle, quickly made the social media rounds with several great leads for a forever home.  Way to go and keep the sharing going!!

I’d like to remind everyone that even if you have your heart set on a specific age, size, or breed of dog, chances are you can find that very dog (or an equally sweet substitute!) in rescue.  Just keep an open eye on local rescue websites, Facebook, and try searching Petfinder – they are out there!  When we were looking for somebody scruffy and terrier-like to adopt, Ajax came into our lives.  I then had dreams of adopting a Westie and my husband a Scottie; like magic, a white Scottie appeared for adoption on Facebook (an excellent compromise).  If you don’t have a specific dog in mind, consider opening your heart to a “big black dog” or bully breed (especially non puppies) – they are always in need of forever homes.

The second Dogs of Christmas are sweet “bullies” Bella and Herbie (their names are linked to their full online profile – check them out!).  Bella is so calm and cuddly with the softest, velvety lips and Herbie is a playful lad who smiles from ear-to-ear.

Check back tomorrow for #3!!
