DJ & Katie | Engagement Session

DJ and Katie are two Californians living in Minnesota.  DJ moved here first for graduate school and later convinced Katie to join him, but on one condition… she never has to pick up a snow shovel. 🙂

There was hefty debate whether they wanted their session during the fall season or have a snowy winter session.  They opted for the latter and we scheduled their engagement session to take place right before Christmas.  Minnesota had different plans for us, but I think we were all appreciative of the warm, sunny day we had!

We began the session in their Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood.  I loved both their adorable outfits and even more adorable smiles. 🙂

I used to live right by this apartment building and I always wanted to photograph it… I finally got my chance!

We then headed to the ever-popular Mill City area.  Whenever I shoot at frequently-photographed locations I always try extra hard to see things in a different way.  Unfortunately for DJ and Katie, this meant hiking up a big hill; despite the sun, it was a little chilly up there!  Totally worth it though – I love the blue sky and wisps of clouds.
