Katie & Nate | Minneapolis Wedding Photographer

Katie and Nate are getting married this fall and I can’t wait!!  These two have amazing senses of humor, which contributed to an extra fun session (not to mention their beautiful smiles and love for each other!).  They also made it a priority to include their two beloved rescue pups, Biscuit and Franklin. :)

Oh my gosh, Biscuit.  You are too cute for words!  He is thought to be a Yorkie x Chinese Crest Powder Puff.  Katie adopted him when she worked in Michigan – he was sick and underweight when she adopted him, but now he is happy and slightly overweight at around 5-6 pounds. :)

And handsome Franklin the Italian Greyhound (you can call him Frank the Tank).  Katie and Nate adopted him from Ruff Start Rescue.

What a perfect family!

Okay, so this last photo was supposed to be a joke and nobody was supposed to see it but the three of us.  Well, the expressions on Franklin and Biscuit’s faces are just priceless to not share with the world.  Please enjoy the cute puppies!

DJ & Katie | Engagement Session

DJ and Katie are two Californians living in Minnesota.  DJ moved here first for graduate school and later convinced Katie to join him, but on one condition… she never has to pick up a snow shovel. :)

There was hefty debate whether they wanted their session during the fall season or have a snowy winter session.  They opted for the latter and we scheduled their engagement session to take place right before Christmas.  Minnesota had different plans for us, but I think we were all appreciative of the warm, sunny day we had!

We began the session in their Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood.  I loved both their adorable outfits and even more adorable smiles. :)

I used to live right by this apartment building and I always wanted to photograph it… I finally got my chance!

We then headed to the ever-popular Mill City area.  Whenever I shoot at frequently-photographed locations I always try extra hard to see things in a different way.  Unfortunately for DJ and Katie, this meant hiking up a big hill; despite the sun, it was a little chilly up there!  Totally worth it though – I love the blue sky and wisps of clouds.

Something Different | Minneapolis Engagement Photographer

Katie and DJ are Californians living in Minneapolis.  For their engagement session, they wanted something that was distinctly Minnesotan.  Mother Nature removed the snow from the equation, but we were able to cope beautifully.  How perfect is this mural of Minneapolis to share with all their friends and family back home?

When I was little, I had aspirations of being an animator (I think the Lion King played a huge role in that dream).  Anyway, now’s my chance!  The weather was so wonderful today and so were Katie and DJ.  Check back for their engagement session sometime this week!
