Ramsey, Pablo, and Suvi! | Minneapolis Pet Photographer

Lots of great things have been happening at Karin Newstrom Photography!  These things include:

-My images are in the process of going live with London-based agency Animal Photography (yippee!)

-I was recently featured on the super-neat doggie-design blog Dog Milk (hooray!) – read the feature here.

-I teamed up with the wonderfully-talented Chocolate Moose Images to participate in the American Animal Rescue Project (more on that in a few days!)

-My foster dog Grover was adopted!  (well, that one is a little bittersweet…)

-AND, I met and photographed a trio of virtually-famous dogs while they were being filmed for an upcoming Animal Planet show (so fun!)

-I also have one more major development in the works – if all goes as planned I will be holding another contest to celebrate!  And before any rumors get started… no, I am not expecting!  Just had to get that out of the way. :)

Ok, back to the famous trio – Ramsey, Pablo, and Suvi!  They recently came in first place in my TOP DOG contest and their owner opted to donate the prize to the Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue.  When I went to deliver the prizes, I had to bring my camera with me to snap a few pictures.  Oh yeah, and Animal Planet happened to be there!

In case you don’t know – Ramsey is the beautiful Doberman:

Pablo is the sassy Chihuahua:

And Suvi is the gorgeous young pittie:

I LOVE her spots.  I’ve always wanted to photograph a Dalmation and now I feel like I almost have. :)

Can you guess who’s the boss?

Haha – Pablo got a sample of the amazing treats from Barkley’s Bistro, and he LOVED them.

We headed outside for a few more pictures before I left.  I cannot get enough of Suvi’s ears!

And a little behind-the-scenes look at the filming – their episode should air late summer or early fall on Animal Planet.

It was so great to meet you Ramsey, Pablo, and Suvi and your wonderful people!  Thank you for keeping so many entertained and helping fight against negative breed stereotypes!

Five Felines | St. Paul Pet Photographer

I traveled to St. Paul earlier this week for a plus-sized session – 5 cats and 3 labs!  It was so much fun for me to have this many wonderful animals to photograph and an amazing home as the location.  I decided to break up their session into two different blog posts, beginning by featuring all the kitties.  Stay tuned for the dogs!

As soon as I came in the door, I was immediately greeted by two labs and Blueberry the cat – so named because he is grayish-blue and round. :)

All of the cats were so very friendly, especially Georgia!  She was incredibly sweet and very willing to pose for the camera.

The black and white Lucy Lu is Georgia’s daughter – the most playful of the bunch.

She had a hard time resisting the stuffed-fish-on-a-bungee toy:

Francesca (or Frankie for short) was the most talkative – we had a lengthy conversation.

And Spot!  He may have been the trickiest kitty to photograph, because all he wanted to do was snuggle (which, admittedly, was lovely).  And to answer yesterday’s trivia question from my photography Facebook page, Spot is a Pixie Bob.  I actually met the breed once before about 5 years ago and the tufted ears, fluffy feet, and short tail stuck with me.

While I was working with the other kitties, Blueberry found a photogenic spot on the desk – he was keeping an eye on things.

What a wonderful group of cats – each with their own personalities and beautiful appearance.  Next up are three lovely labs – two seniors and a bouncy young’un.

Sky | Minneapolis Pet Photographer

Sky is a bouncy, friendly, sweet, and silly Bully mix with the most gorgeous markings.  Sky started off his life with owner Kourtney as a foster dog who became a little too close… he had to stay with her for life! :)  Kourtney is a dedicated volunteer and does an amazing job helping dogs in need!  We are teaming up to offer a fundraiser later this summer — stay tuned for details!

We had our session at beautiful Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis — it’s a perfect combination of urban and green locations!

One of my favorite things about Sky is his flappy lips — so cute!

He has the cutest little whiskers on his face.

Kourtney’s boyfriend TJ also joined us for the session — he and Sky are close buds!

Good boy, Sky!
