Stacy & Jason | Minneapolis Engagement Photography

Can a session be any more perfect than this?  A newly engaged couple + dogs + the dogs are named after musicians (I happen to have a Masters’ degree in music).  It was meant to be!

I met Stacy last spring at a networking event – she owns and operates Rhythm of Life Chiropractic.  I was so excited when she called to tell me she was engaged, because I knew her puppies would be a part of their engagement shoot.  Stacy and Jason adopted Ella and Duke from Metropolitan Mutts as little puppies and now they are quite big… but still have that puppy mentality and enthusiasm.  They provided a good challenge, but were lots of fun to photograph and play with!

Stacy requested some images of just the dogs and I was very happy to oblige.  Duke is the lighter pup with the full blaze while Ella is a little darker in color and more petite.

After the first part of their session, the puppies got to relax in the truck while Stacy and Jason had a little alone time in front of the camera.

We had perfect fall light that had a wonderful, warm quality to it – a beautiful touch.

The dogs were very happy to see us at the end of the session. :)  Good pups!

Thank you Stacy, Jason, Ella, and Duke!  I’m so looking forward to your wedding next year!

Oliver | Minneapolis Pet Photographer

Meet Oliver, the metro dog behind the soon-to-be-open daycare and boarding facility Metro Dogs.  He is a terrier-poodle mix who started off as a shelter dog, but is now a skilled therapy dog with his pet parent Amy – a true success story!  We recently had a session in Oliver’s favorite part of the city – the Stone Arch bridge and surrounding area.  First up: the Guthrie.  I love how the blue makes his buff coat “pop” and you can see Amy’s reflection watching him. :)

Oliver is absolutely brimming with personality – his little pink tongue cracks me up.

There may have been tasty treats involved…

One of my favorite parts about on-location sessions is going to places of significance for pets and their owners.  Oliver loves to be held up by Amy to enjoy the breeze over the river – “better than 1000 car windows,” she says.  Unfortunately, we were short on wind that night, but it was a fair trade-off for the dreamy sunlight.

Good luck to Amy and Oliver on the upcoming opening of Metro Dogs in downtown Minneapolis – check them out on Facebook!  Visit them in person, too – you might recognize some of the artwork on the walls. :)

PS – I’m on Facebook, too!

Surlii & Cami | Minneapolis Pet Photography

I recently met up with Surlii, a Dogo Argentino puppy, and older sister Cami, a sweet Pittie, in Minneapolis for a photoshoot featuring long grass and the beginning of fall colors.  Surlii is a funny, clumsy, and playful puppy… but quite big at 85 pounds as an 8-month-old!  Her mom has big plans for her to become a skijoring dog when she grows up!

Cami is the older, wiser sister — at 8 years old she is graying a bit around her muzzle and definitely follows instructions better… but still knows how to have fun!

Hey, Surlii — if skijoring doesn’t work out for you, I strongly recommend looking into modeling!

Have you ever seen a Pitbull point?  Me neither!

And what shoot isn’t complete with an image or two with mom?  Jackie and I are planning an upcoming shoot of Surlii and Cami’s big, BIG sister (of the equine variety).  I can’t wait!
