My husband Jeff and I recently returned from our road trip down the West coast – it was amazing! We saw old friends, met new friends, photographed a wedding, enjoyed the outdoors, and ate lots of pizza and pastries. It was a lot of driving in under 2 weeks (almost 5000 miles!), but it was pretty much perfect.
Advice for road tripping: pack snacks, have lots of This American Life and Radiolab available, and go with somebody who likes to drive (Jeff seriously drove every single mile – yes!).
Here are just a few images from the trip.

They high-fived their way all the way down the aisle. Congratulations again!!
If you are in Seattle, you must go to Bakery Noveau.
We only had time for a quick stop in Portland. Powell’s books, Sizzle Pie, and donuts!
California:
Super Banana slug.
The giant redwoods, giant ferns, and lush vegetation reminded of Jurassic Park. Then in the sand of the Eel River, I found a dinosaur! Obviously, he needed his picture taken, too.
Oliver:
He locked eyes with the camera and I realized he was watching the shutter open and close. I took some rapid-fire images hoping he would bat at me…
…he did.

Nevada:
Our new friends Brady and Capree (of Dog Milk and other wonderful blogs), along with Wrigley and Smash:
Wrigley is SO handsome.
Smash and that pumpkin…
And sweet Jack, from the last night of our trip in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who hosted us, showed us around, and took care of puppies and house matters for us. And thanks to Jeff for driving almost 5000 miles – you’re the best road trip buddy ever!
